Broad and Deep; Past, Present and Future
Building on a bedrock of experience, Seismic Studios stays grounded with a smart working style and stays energized with a creative attitude. Katie Kirsh Torok President | Creative Director With every project, you can expect Katie to bring impeccable attention to detail and innate creative talent honed by 14 years of design experience. Her career began when her mom discovered Katie was happy to spend hours with paper and “pushy” (pencil) in her high chair. It was a win-win situation: Mom could get the dishes done and Katie got a head start on exploring design principles. Later, she earned her BFA in Graphic Design from Ohio University, and learned the ropes at several leading design studios, ad agencies and public relations firms. And for first-hand insight into the needs of corporate clients, she draws on her experience as an in-house designer for a global telecommunications company. Katie enjoys exploring all types of art and design, from taking her kids to fine art museums to reading about modernist architecture. To balance out the excitement of the city, a little whitewater rafting brings her back into harmony with nature. Seismic History: Energy Set in Motion With risk comes the possibility of greater rewards. This was the motivator in 1999 when Katie decided to give up her day job to freelance full time. Consistent good work and happy referrals built the fledgling business from its humble roots as KKT Graphic Design & Illustration to its incorporation a year later as Seismic Studios Inc. The risk turned out to be well worth the reward of cultivating long-term client relationships, and being a part of the success of those clients. Looking forward, our creative and strategic contributions to our clients’ successes will always be our main motivator. We Like to Stay Active We keep our finger on the pulse of the design and business communities with participation in groups including:
We also regularly seek inspiration and training, in both creative and practical matters, through various workshops, seminars, conferences and of course voracious reading. |
